Roman Mosaic

 Roman Mosaic

A portion of a Roman mosaic depicting Odysseus/Ulysses, who is tied to his ship while the rest of the crew members have beeswax in their ears in order to sail past Sirens unscathed. This masterpiece – from a scene in Homer’s epic poem The Odyssey – was found in Dougga and is on display in the Bardo Museum in Tunis, Tunisia. It is one of my top 10 favorite museums in the world that I have visited.
