Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb

This piece depicts the Timurid-Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb at the latter years of his reign. The Emperor at his Gulal-Baar is engaged in the act of Dhikr (the remembrance of God), which typically would begin for him in the late evening until the early hours of the morning.

Behind the Emperor, on the left is Prince Kam Baksh, the darling of his elderly age, working through some documents.

We have tried to portray in this art three important facets of the Timurid kingship, namely:

*Padishahliq (governance)

*Mulkgirliq (conquest/kingdom seizing)

*Adl (justice).

PS : This piece was an experiment in order see how we can utilise modern techniques to produce art work based on the Timurid-Mughal era. You will notice some inaccuracies, such as the throne etc, these were included with intent. The work is unfinished & a work in progress, and we hope to publish the final version soon.

Suggestions & criticism’s are welcome
